Nicklas Backstrom And His Girlfriend, Liza Berg, Got Married In 2022

Nicklas and Liza had been in a relationship since March 7, 2012, sometime before the 2012-2013 NHL lockout. The duo stuck by each other through ups and downs and even had three children. Their wedding plans were likely delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Nevertheless, the long-time partners tied the knot on July 23, 2022.

The event was held at Skytteholm Hotel in Ekerö, Sweden, on the shores of Lake Mälaren.

Had A Star-Studded Wedding Party

The couple’s wedding was nothing short of spectacular. The guests, along with the bride and groom, experienced total bliss. Given that Nicklas was already a legend of the sport, the event was attended by big names from the Hockey world.

In attendance were players like Andre Burakovsky, Marcus Johansson, T.J. Oshie, Carl Hagelin, John Carlson, Lars Eller, Peter Forsberg, Elias Lindholm, Calle Jarnkrok and trainer Andreas Ohgren. Their significant others, Nicole Nordin(Peter’s wife), Annica Englund (Elias’s spouse), and Lauren Oshie(TJ’s partner), were also present.

The #nickscoresliza trend was trending that day among guests. Wedding coordinator Johanna Kajson planned the event with another event planner, Vester Design, who was in charge of the designs. The Swedish electro-house duo Nause was the DJ for the event, and the band Isaac And The Soul Company lit up the atmosphere with their soul music.

Who Is Nicklas Backstrom’s Wife, Liza Berg, aka Liza Backstrom?

Like Nicklas, Liza is European and hails from Stockholm, Sweden. She studied Business Economics at Uppsala University in Sweden and graduated in 2010. Besides that, she also attended the Stockholm School of Economics and Santa Monica College in California.

Liza is very private about her personal life and doesn’t use social media handles that much. Her Facebook is relatively barren, with only posts that she considers significant. As for her Instagram, it is private.

The beautiful lady has an X (formerly Twitter) account, but it has been inactive since 2014. It only contains a picture of her then-future-husband in a suit and some tweets about hockey.

The Married Duo Are Raising Three Children

The pair were in a relationship for a decade before they finally married in 2022. As such, they already had two daughters, Haley and Alizee, and one son, Vince Bäckström, at the time of their marriage.

The hockey player was very thankful for his kids and wife during the pandemic. He welcomed Alizee, his youngest daughter, in April 2020 during the NHL’s temporary postponement. Despite being restless sitting around the house, Nicklas was glad to get some more bonding time with his little ones.

His children like ice cream and were overjoyed whenever he would make a sundae for them.

The athlete also took the opportunity to teach his older son, Vince, who was four years old at the time, to play hockey. When questioned about his hockey skills in 2023, the kid hilariously mentioned that he is already as good as a passer as his old man. The boy looks eager to follow in his father’s footsteps, but only time will tell.

Nick’s kids are his biggest fans. They wished him the best of luck while chanting, “Let’s! Go! Caps!” when he returned to play in the shortened 2020 NHL season. Vince even waved a 2018 Stanley Cup champions flag. They also, at times, wear custom leather jackets with the playmaker’s number with “Daddy” etched on the back in support of their father.
