Ncuti came out as queer in 2023

He went naked for the issue and thought that was enough of a hint of his sexual orientation. But in late 2023, he publicly revealed his sexuality as he identified as “queer” for the cover story of Elle. He recounted the story of meeting another queer woman from Rwanda. Before that, he thought he was the only queer Rwandan person.

Being from Rwanda, where same-sex marriage is considered taboo, he didn’t feel comfortable speaking about his sexuality. The star only revealed this to his mom when he was 26. Coming out was not easy for the actor.
